Cooling the Earth by 1°C Through Carbon Removal Technology

On June 1, 2026, the commissioning ceremony for China's first carbon-sequestering ALC panel production line, developed by CarbonMiner, together with the inauguration of the East China Prefabricated Carbon-Sequestering Intelligent Manufacturing Base, was held in Anji, Zhejiang Province.

The project represents a notable development in the application of carbon-removal technologies within the building materials sector. It also reflects ongoing efforts to support China's "Dual Carbon" goals and promote the adoption of lower-carbon construction materials.

The event brought together academicians, researchers, industry experts, and representatives from related enterprises to discuss developments in carbon-sequestering building materials and their potential role in sustainable construction.

Shaping the Future Through Innovation: Academicians and Industry Experts Discuss Carbon-Negative Construction

During the event, experts from academia and industry exchanged views on the development of carbon-sequestering building materials, pathways toward industrial-scale production, and emerging trends within the sector.

In his keynote address, Chen Qingquan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), noted that the official launch and operation of the manufacturing base represents an important step in moving carbon-sequestration technologies from laboratory research toward industrial application. He stated that the project provides a low-carbon development objective of how carbon-removal technologies can be integrated into industrial production while supporting broader low-carbon development objectives.

Industry Collaboration Supporting Technology Deployment

According to He Jian, Assistant to the Chairman of Teeyer Intelligent, the official commissioning and full operation of this project manifests the joint achievement of Teeyer Intelligent, CarbonMiner, and Longgang New Materials in realizing industrial integration of intelligent equipment manufacturing with carbon-removal technologies.

He noted that the three parties plan to continue working together on the integration of equipment systems and carbon-sequestration technologies, develop a mass-replicable low-carbon intelligent manufacturing implementation model, and set a benchmark for the green transformation of China’s domestic building materials industry.

Representatives including Ye Wuping from China Academy of Building Research, Gong Juexiao from Anji Longgang New Materials, and Chen Yu from Shenzhen CarbonMiner also delivered keynote insights during the event. Discussions focused on the development of industry standards, advances in intelligent manufacturing technologies, and potential application opportunities for carbon-sequestering building materials.

The East China Prefabricated Carbon-Sequestering Intelligent Manufacturing Base will take the lead in forming a complete industrial chain covering technology R&D, intelligent equipment supply and market application, putting it at the forefront of China’s carbon-sequestering building materials sector.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, CarbonMiner's carbon-sequestering ALC panel production line officially commenced operation. It marks a historic breakthrough that realizes the leap from zero to one in large-scale production of carbon-sequestering building panels.

Guests toured the intelligent production workshop on site. Fully automated operation across the entire process, high-precision intelligent manufacturing equipment and low-carbon production models fully demonstrated the technological strengths of a modern green building materials production line.

What Is Carbon Sequestration Technology?

Carbon-sequestering ALC panels serve as core innovative products for low-carbon transformation in the construction sector. Carbon-sequestering ALC panels are produced using conventional cement-based manufacturing and curing processes while incorporating captured carbon dioxide and specialized additives during production.

Through a mineralization process, carbon dioxide is permanently incorporated into the internal structure of the blocks and panels. This approach enables long-term carbon storage within building materials while utilizing captured carbon dioxide as a production input.

Compared with conventional AAC and ALC products, carbon-sequestering ALC delivers a qualitative leap in carbon reduction performance alongside comprehensively upgraded physical properties. It features light weight, high strength, thermal insulation, sound insulation, fire resistance and moisture resistance.

The East China Prefabricated Carbon-Sequestering Intelligent Manufacturing Base, now successfully commissioned, was built via cooperation between Teeyer Intelligent Shenzhen CarbonMiner Technology Co., Ltd., and Anji Longgang New Materials Co., Ltd.
